I made several posts about madscience's unfair ban in the community anarchists, all of which were met with sarcastic, if not down right nasty remarks towards me and my idea. Yeah, well SCREW YOU people. I'm going to keep fighting to have madscience reinstated as a community member, and maybe even MODERATOR of anarchists.
This Friday, March 27th at 3:00PM, myself and other true PDX anarchists will be meeting at the Mcdonalds on 18th and Burnside to have burgers and talk about what we can do to get our fellow Portlander back into the community. Anyone who wants to stop in, have a bite and do a peaceful protest, feel free to show up!

БУЛАТ БОЛОТ [userpic]

New entry titled "Сейчас в мире ведётся информационая война против России." by </a></font></a>exzzzorcist in </a></font></a>ru_politics.

Look how the reporters of the world-known Reuters news agency are working. It is they who supply the world with “truthful information”.

The photos was taken by Gleb Garanich/Reuters and represented at:

These photos supposedly tell the story about civilian victims of Russian bombardments in Georgia.

On this picture, you may see a killed man and grief of his relative:

Pay attention to the fact that the corpse lies on its back. Remember the clothes and features of the sorrowful relative.

Look at another picture by Reuters:

You can see the same corpse, in the same clothes, but in a different position - face-down. The corpse rested for a while and turned over!

The next picture shows the same man we have already seen at the previous photo:

Can you find a difference? It is perfect acting and the highest degree of grief in place. But he changed into other clothes for new shooting!

Who of us didn’t have little wounds and scratches while we were just kids? Do you remember how painful it was and how we cried? Now, look at this photo:

The boy in his blood-stained and torn clothes studiously poses for a portrait without any signs of pain in his face.

Is it how Reuters news agency is working? Is it how they illuminate the situation in Georgia without falsifications? Do you believe that?

If these particular falsifications are obvious, how many cases of the deceit have not been brought to light? Is it worthy to listen to bullshit?

For those of you who didn't catch it, a marvellous film about the space race is playing at the Hollywood Theatre this weekend.  It is called "Sputnik Mania".  As a history major, I found it to be quite enjoyable and also quite uplifting.  I encourage you all to see it if you can

adrian_strays asked me what I have against Communism, and I thought I'd start a new topic about it.

In a nutshell, Communism denies the power and legitimacy of the personal profit motive. Like any micromanaged system, complete government control of the economy is not only inefficient and impractical, but demotivating. The ultimate failure of Soviet-style Communism is that it treats populations as inanimate resources rather than groups of individual actors.

I define socialism as a system in which one of the government's official functions is to actively shape society, either by encouraging social change or by preventing it. In most socialist states, the methods of social change are economic. In fact, Marxists in general have been accused of "economism" – the error of seeing all social conditions as primarily economic in origin. I've been guilty of it myself. That's not to say that many social conditions aren't rooted in the economy. But economism ignores human factors like the sense of self-determination (even though few people ever act on their freedom) or the idea that each person will be rewarded in proportion to their contributions (even if they usually aren't.) Communism takes economism to the extreme.

My socioeconomic ideal is that everyone should enjoy the security of having certain basic necessities guaranteed while still being allowed to participate in a free market, and that the government's only influence on the free market should be to keep it free by regulating abuse (like by shutting down Wall Street and gutting the banking industry, but that's a whole other discussion.) My list of basic necessities includes food, shelter, preventive health care, and the common defense. But the idea that we can simply levy taxes to provide these necessities is fundamentally flawed, as I explain here. I'd implement a system of social credit whereby individuals can earn a lifetime guarantee of basic necessities through service in the government industries that provide them. The only people eligible for unearned social credit would be those whose physical disabilities cannot be accommodated by the system. Not only would this make for a healthier society, but it would be a lot more functional than full-on Communism... or our own jacked-up Social Security system.

How many of you would be interested in a meet up? (During which I hope you're a little more outspoken)
